This is Bryan Smith, who is so obviously the drummer for The Design, and my Twilight Sparkle unicorn. A lot of the band photography I’ve seen lately has excluded the drummer. I know that it may be difficult to get clear shots, but I always try to get pics of everyone in the band.
This is Keith Lewis, and he’s the new bassist for The Design. I love watching him, because he looks like there is no where else he’d rather be when he’s playing. Bass face is pure joy.
This pic is from another Design show, and this is their guitarist, Mike Yaeger. I met Mike back in December, we became fast friends, and he encouraged me to come see him play. It’s rare that he’s not smiling, and always engages the crowd.
I went to see The Design play a few shows recently, and I took a lot of pics. This is a hobby, and the vast majority aren’t great, but here’s a good one. I love seeing Katherine Robichaud (singer) engage fans. You know that girl feels like she’s the only other person in the room at that moment.
So professionally I am a Geek, but off the clock I am a Nerd. Geekspertise is an apt name.

I added a tag cloud to my sidebar, because I’d like to see what 20 tags dominate Geekspertise.
I got the code from rive.rs, and it is exceedingly easy to set up.
Sorry for the Dead Air
Late last year I made the decision to move Geekspertise to Tumblr, because I just needed to try something different. I love WordPress, and I will forever be a fan, but I’m exhausted. I’ve been rolling my own blogs, and paying way too much for hosting, for over a decade now with little to show. Every few years I blow everything away and start from scratch, because I get bored and stop wanting to play, or I think of a fancy new domain name that inspires me to go in a different direction.
I’m tired of the dead air.
All I want to do is let my geek flag fly, and this is as good a place as any to do it.
What is Geekspertise?
I have a penchant for coining words, and a proclivity for slipping them into my everyday language. I don’t know if I am the first person who has used the word geekspertise, because let’s face it, the human race is running out of original thoughts. Geekspert tumbled out of my mouth when I was trying to find a succinct way to describe a very specific segment of the population without either stroking their egos or being derogatory. Let me connect the dots for you.noun \ˈgēk\
- a computer expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often considered offensive when used by outsiders).
- a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.
noun \ˌek-(ˌ)spər-ˈtēz, -ˈtēs\
- expert skill or knowledge; expertness; know-how: business expertise.
- a written opinion by an expert, as concerning the authenticity or value of a work of art, manuscript, etc.
That’s how I arrived at geekspertise. A geekspert is someone who lives in the grey area between being knowledegable and being a subject matter expert on a couple of topics. In other words, a geekspert knows way too much about too little. Geekspertise is the act of wielding one’s narrow band of knowledge as though life depended on it.
