The actual app interface on Android is better than I thought it would be, but it really is a crippled Tumblr/Twitter mashup, and I don’t get why it’s such a big deal for the iPhone crowd. 70s pics of me with my afro picked out are going to be awesome though.

Tumblr is Not a Source
God dammit all…
I don’t know what it is lately, but the amount of unsourced, unresearched bullshit on Tumblr lately is really upsetting. Seriously.
Here’s what you SHOULD do when surfing Tumblr.
1) read something that makes you outraged.
2) type a couple key words into Google.
3) figure out whether or not you should actually be outraged.
There are SO MANY things in this world to be pissed off about, and there are SO MANY things in this world that need to be changed. Why the fuck don’t you focus your energies on the REAL things in this world, instead of getting all butt-hurt over things that never fucking happened.
Its not just Tumblr. You should treat anything you read on the internet this way. Even major news sources screw up and contradict each other, so it’s worth taking a few minutes to validate the information before you actually get outraged. Don’t be one of the sheeple.

Tumblr Helped Me Pinpoint Why I Hate Facebook
Even though it’s the easiest way for me to get in contact with most people, and I still encourage people to add me, I hate Facebook. It’s just a big address book for me right now, and I’ve filtered the signal to noise ratio down to a tolerable level by creating a tiny list of people I actually want to hear from. Unfortunately, most of them feel the same way about FB, so they don’t share a whole lot.
I just got on Tumblr to save money on blog hosting. A friend told me about it, I checked it out, and I moved my blogs here to save about $150/yr. Somewhere along the way I realized that it’s just a healthier environment.
Facebook is a bunch of people who actually know each other (or purport to) being foul to (or near) each other to get attention. Tumblr is a bunch of people who don’t actually know each other (for the most part) being kind to each other just because. Don’t get me wrong. Tumblr is full of hate, but it’s easier to avoid, and it’s not usually coming from people you know and (used to) respect.
Tumblr Cliché: “I can’t even.”
There are some things about Tumblr culture that are great. But like any other culture, it has develeoped some bad language habits and clichés that need to be assassinated.
You can’t even? You can’t even what? You can’t even believe that Lassie told you that Timmy was stuck in the well? You can’t even write a complete sentence? You can’t even have a complete thought?
Seriously. Tell me. I can help. I am familiar with the English language. Have words. Will share.
Tumblr Image Problems
I hate that you won’t let me upload or link to images in posts right now, Tumblr. I just wanted you to know that.
Sorry for the Dead Air
Late last year I made the decision to move Geekspertise to Tumblr, because I just needed to try something different. I love WordPress, and I will forever be a fan, but I’m exhausted. I’ve been rolling my own blogs, and paying way too much for hosting, for over a decade now with little to show. Every few years I blow everything away and start from scratch, because I get bored and stop wanting to play, or I think of a fancy new domain name that inspires me to go in a different direction.
I’m tired of the dead air.
All I want to do is let my geek flag fly, and this is as good a place as any to do it.
